Pompano Beach is embarking on a transformative $2 billion redevelopment of its downtown area, aiming to create a vibrant urban center that seamlessly blends residential, commercial, and public spaces. This ambitious project, spanning approximately 75 acres, is a collaborative effort between the City of Pompano Beach and master developer RocaPoint Partners.

Key Features of the Redevelopment:

• Mixed-Use Development: The plan encompasses around 4 million square feet of new construction, including multifamily housing, office spaces, retail outlets, hotels, and public areas.
• Civic Enhancements: A new City Hall is set to become a central landmark, fostering civic engagement and serving as a catalyst for economic activity in the downtown area.
• Public Spaces: The development includes nine acres of open green spaces designed for community gatherings, events, and recreational activities, enhancing the city’s commitment to creating pedestrian-friendly environments.

Economic and Community Benefits:

• Job Creation: The project is projected to generate over 3,000 recurring annual jobs and approximately 5,752 construction jobs, significantly boosting local employment opportunities.
• Economic Growth: Upon completion, the redevelopment is expected to contribute an annual local tax revenue of $42.4 million and spur $447 million in annual spinoff business revenue, positioning Pompano Beach as a thriving economic hub.
• Community Enrichment: By introducing new cultural, dining, and entertainment options, the downtown area aims to become a dynamic destination that caters to both residents and visitors, enriching the community’s social fabric.

The redevelopment is set to unfold over the next decade, with the new City Hall expected to break ground in 2025 and reach occupancy by 2028.
